D'Sean Perry, Lavel Davis Jr. and Devin Chandler were killed late Sunday night in a shooting near the University of Virginia's Charlottesville campus. The three victims, who played football at UVA, are remembered as being "great men," teammate Aaron Famui said. The phenomenon of gun violence is "literally killing us all ... one gunshot at a time," the Rev. Adam Lawrence Dyer, Ph.D. candidate in religious studies at UVA, wrote in a prescient blog post before the shooting. The solutions to gun violence might not come easy, but Dyer said they're within reach. For the sake of UVA students and all others whose lives have been changed by mass shootings over the years, we have to try. “An entire student body now has a shooting as part of their lived experience, and that will never go away,” he said. “We can change this.” ✍: BrieAnna Frank/USA TODAY 📷: University of Virginia Athletics via AP Visit the link in @usatoday’s bio for more.
