Mack Rutherford, 17, has flown across 52 countries and five continents when he landed Aug. 24 in Sofia, Bulgaria, to become the youngest person to fly solo around the world.
Rutherford broke the record set by Travis Ludlow of Britain, who was 18 at the time of his solo flight in 2021. Rutherford's journey, which began March 23, included crossing the equator twice to confirm the Guinness World Records requirement.
His sister, Zara Rutherford, 19, set the world record on Jan. 20 for the youngest woman to fly solo around the world.
Rutherford flew a Shark, one of the fastest ultralight aircraft in the world with a maximum speed of 186 mph.
