Even though bans on queer conversion therapy exist, experts say the pseudoscientific practice still lurks. Lourdes Dolores Follins, a New York-based clinical social worker who primarily provides therapy to LGBTQ people, says it's crucial people know the practice impacts all kinds of queer people including the transgender community. "For every person who's talking about 'this is what happened to me 5, 10, 15 years ago,' I'd be willing to bet there are at least five to 10 other people who have similar stories," Follins says.
