The House committee investigating the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021 held an abruptly scheduled hearing Tuesday featuring shocking testimony from former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.
"...Things might get real, real bad on January 6,” Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows said, according to Hutchinson.
Hutchinson's testimony revealed how Trump's team handled and corresponded with each other before, during and after the Capitol attack, including statements and reactions from Trump himself.
She said the deputy chief of staff, Tony Ornato, notified Trump before 10 a.m. on Jan. 6, about people on the Ellipse, an oval-shaped field between the National Mall and the White House, carrying weapons including flagpoles, sticks, spears, knives and guns including pistols and rifles.
“Please make sure we don’t go up to the Capitol, Cassidy,” Hutchinson quoted White House counsel Pat Cipollone as telling her the morning of Jan. 6. “Keep in touch with me. We’re going to get charged with every crime imaginable if we make that movement happen.”
