GOP Gov. Brian Kemp will face off against Democrat Stacey Abrams in Georgia gubernatorial race this fall. Abrams lost to Kemp in 2018, but has since gained fame for voter registration and turnout initiatives in Georgia. Kemp won his primary after Trump endorsed his opponent, David Perdue, because Kemp refused to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Trump’s favor. Kemp fended off Perdue in the Republican primary, crushing the Trump-backed candidate by a roughly 3-1 margin, according to CNN and NBC.
