From working construction to winning "American Idol," Noah Thompson proved that, at least for some, dreams do come true.
The 20-year-old country crooner from Louisa, Kentucky, was named the winner of Season 20 of "Idol" on Sunday night, besting runner-up Huntergirl and third-place finalist Leah Marlene.
"Honestly, dude, I was just kind of numb," Thompson told USA TODAY after the finale. "It blew me away. I just didn't know how to feel. Anybody could have won this show, you know what I mean? I just didn't think that it was me."
For his final performances, Thompson sang Bruce Springsteen's āIām on Fire," a new original called "One Day Tonight," and (in a pop-ballad curveball) Rihanna's "Stay."
Next, Thompson plans to keep being himself while also fostering the confidence he found on "Idol."
"It's made me open up a lot and just grow," he said.
