The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams from both the Summer and Winter Games were honored by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House on Wednesday. The gathering included nearly 600 athletes and took place on the South Lawn. First lady Jill Biden and second gentlemen Doug Emhoff were also present during the event, at which Winter Olympic stars Elana Meyers Taylor, Brittany Bowe, John Shuster and wheelchair basketball player Matt Scott took to the podium and presented shirts and sneakers to the president, vice president, first lady and second gentleman. “It’s been a very divided nation … but you brought us together. No matter the divisions, when we see you compete, we feel a common pride in those letters: USA,” Biden said.
