Malory Lea looked for a new home for a year with her real estate agent before she decided to turn to a more creative approach: a "whisper campaign."
Within months, she'd found a person willing to sell — without the help of an agent. Susan Rana had lived in her Pleasantville, New York, house for more than 25 years, but the call from Lea wasn't unwelcome, she said. The house had been listed before, in 2019, and taken off the market after five months. With Rana and her husband having retired, they were willing to sell the 2,200-square-foot house.
