Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov offered a message of unity as he handed over the keys to the International Space Station to American astronaut Thomas Mashburn Wednesday.
Before departing the space station, Shkaplerov embraced his fellow astronauts as "my space brothers and space sister."
Shkapelrov returned to Earth on Wednesday alongside Russian Space Agency's Pyotr Dubrov and U.S. astronaut Mark Vande Hei. The trio all spent more than 350 days in space, including Vande Hei, who was stationed at the ISS for a U.S.-record 355 days.
