The reach of TikTok is no longer confined to the app’s #FYP. The platform is launching the careers of breakout stars like @aissatatdiallo. It was never Diallo’s “plan to be a creator” but she’s managed to amass millions of likes on TikTok and landed a spot on the inaugural season of @cbstv’s @loveislandusa. Diallo says creators of color often have a steeper hill to climb when it comes to gaining traction online. “For us Black creators, influencers of color, we cannot just do the bare minimum.
