The world's largest cargo plane, the Ukrainian-built "Mriya," or "The Dream," was destroyed in a Russian attack on the Antonov Airport near Kyiv, several Ukrainian officials and companies announced Sunday.
"Yesterday, unfortunately, we lost our Mriya," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday. "But the old Mriya. And we are building a new one now."
The Ukrainian aerospace and defense company Ukroboronprom affirmed the plane was destroyed. In a Facebook message posted Sunday, the company estimated repairs to the aircraft will take more than five years to complete, with a price tag of more than $3 billion. They hope to make Russia foot the bill, the company wrote. Tap the link in bio to read more.
