USA TODAY is honoring the lives of loved ones lost due to COVID-19 in nursing homes, where the pandemic took its greatest toll. If your family member is among them, we invite you to commemorate their lives here. This memory wall is part of an upcoming project on nursing homes during the pandemic. In Photo 1 is a portrait of Martha Miles sitting on a bookshelf in her home, where her son Marvin now lives. Miles, 70, died March 30, 2020, in a nursing home. “We’re left with a hole in our hearts,” said Marvin Miles. Photo 2 shows a picture Carlynn Malone keeps a corner of her bedroom devoted to her husband, Bill. Malone, 65, died in April 2020, in an Indiana nursing home. And Photo 3 shows a photo of Sue Miller and her husband. Sue was in a long-term care facility because she had Alzheimer’s. She died four days before Christmas 2020. Her daughter keeps a picture of her parents on a bookshelf in her home. To share your memory, visit the link in the bio. 📷: Hannah Gaber, USA TODAY
