Hundreds of people gathered in Waukesha for an evening of interfaith prayer on Monday, a day after an SUV driver visited horror on the Wisconsin city's Christmas parade by leaving five people dead and dozens more injured.
Cold and wind didn't stop members of the community from attending — instead, they bundled up and handed out hot chocolates and water to those around them at the city's Cutler Park.
The suspect in the crash will appear in court Tuesday. Darrell Brooks Jr., 39, was fleeing a domestic disturbance with a report of a knife when he rammed into the parade, Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson said.
