Young Dolph, the high-profile Memphis-based rapper behind hits such as "Major" and “RNB,” was killed in a shooting on Wednesday officials say. He was 36. The Memphis Police Department said "preliminary information" indicated Young Dolph was the sole male victim, according to a statement on Twitter. He was pronounced dead at the scene. “The tragic shooting death of rap artist Young Dolph serves as another reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it,” Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said in a statement. “My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.” Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., moved to Memphis as an infant. He launched his career with a series of mixtapes beginning in 2008.
