Only 40% of Americans know that vaccinated people are less likely to test positive for COVID-19 than those who haven't been inoculated, according to a new Axios/Ipsos poll. The poll also found that slightly more than 25% of respondents correctly said that a vaccinated 80-year-old is at greater risk of dying of COVID-19 than an unvaccinated 30-year-old. The lack of knowledge about vaccines is likely contributing to the continued vaccine holdout of 60 million people who are eligible for the shots, and to diminished faith in the Biden administration to lead U.S. out of the pandemic.
