California will require eligible students to be vaccinated for COVID-19 to attend school in-person once the the Food and Drug Administration fully approves the vaccine for school age children. Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine has already been fully approved for those 16 and over, but the vaccine is allowed for those 12 to 15 under an emergency use authorization. "I believe we'll be the first state in America to move forward with this mandate and requirement," Newsom said from a school in San Francisco. The mandate would go into effect for students the semester after FDA approval, which could be as early as Jan. 1. Newsom said he expects it to be in place by July 1 of next year. #vaccinemandate #covidvaccine
