How better to celebrate the Earth Day than by planting a tree? And which day would be more ideal for the start of a new phase of any park than World Earth Day🌍? We plant the first tree in the new Carl Gustav Swensson Park in Žilina just on Earth Day. We can boldly say that this date is also the "birthday" of the new park. Today we didn't just plant an ordinary tree. It is a very rare Chinese Bunge's pine (Pinus bungeana) that came from a German Plant nursery @brunspflanzen. The tree has a very interesting bark and in🇸🇰only some botanical gardens can boast of it! Thank you for planting the T + T company and also Lucia @lucia_bolibruchova from the Town Hall of Žilina. This act also created the World Map of Peace @worldpeacemap. At the initiative of Servare et Manere, the Žilina Town Council @mestozilina named the park at Kysucká Street near Slovena as the ᴄᴀʀʟ ɢᴜꜱᴛᴀᴠ ꜱᴡᴇɴꜱꜱᴏɴ ᴘᴀʀᴋ. C. G. Swensson (1861 - 1910) was a Swedish🇸🇪landscape architect of European significance who worked mainly in Austro-Hungarian Empire. In Slovakia, in 1891, he created a park around the Cloth Processing Factory, later called Slovena (Silleiner Fabriken Adolf Löw & Sohn). Servare et Manere received a mandate from the Mayor of the Town of Žilina @petofiabane and Town Council to create the C. G. Swensson Memorial, which we plan to unveil this year, when 160 years have passed since Swensson's birth and also 130 years since the construction of the park near Súkenka. It is the only preserved Swensson's work in the whole territory of Slovakia! The project author of the monument and park is the landscape architect Marek Sobola @marek.sobola together with the sculptor Michal Janiga @michal__janiga.
