#ToyahLPCountdown The autumn/winter of 1982 brought the #livealbum #WarriorRock which was recorded over two nights in July at London’s #HammersmithOdeon (now the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo). Featuring most of Toyah’s singles to date it was an energetic collection highlighting new favourites Angel & Me and Dawn Chorus from that year’s studio album The Changeling.
The album was mixed by Nick Tauber at Marquee Studios, London in July. Two tracks didn’t feature from the two nights gig, Neon Womb and Street Creature. Bird In Flight was also performed at various nights on The Changeling Tour too. During the mixing sessions Toyah would also record new versions of Ieya and Dawn Chorus, produced by Tauber. Both were performed on BBC TV’s Pebble Mill 6.55 Special and the re-recorded Ieya would be issued as a single. The studio version of Dawn Chorus with a coda of Moonlight Dancing at the end remains unreleased.
Whilst there’s no video equivalent (the tour wasn’t camera taped) of the live album, these rare live clips featured on a TV news report of Toyah rehearsing Dawn Chorus with the band with the recognisable tour backdrop. #Toyah #ToyahWillcox #gigs #Vinyl #DoubleLP #Gatefoldvinyl #Punk #Rock #NewWave #Pop #Cassette #1982 #80smusic #livegig
