Hey y’all: I chose to leave The Flaming Lips about 2 weeks ago. There’s no big drama or anything to report on, it simply felt like the time had come. I’m so incredibly grateful for the 10 years I got to spend with my family in the diy psychedelic circus and for how much I got to learn and grow through the years. From guitar teching, hooking up confetti cannons, getting rambunctious festy goers inside of inflatable frog costumes to learning and getting to play some of my all time favorite songs all over the world. Heck, it’s how I got to meet most of you. I’m sad I won’t see those dudes as much as i have in the last decade but i know this ain’t the end for us. 💗 It feels silly making a post about it since the band has had so many members throughout a career that’s older than I am but I didn’t want to leave anyone feeling surprised, blindsided or confused. Most importantly, I wanted to thank the Lips for having me for so long and for giving me a truly life changing experience. I mean, how many people get to join their favorite band? There’s a special magic in the #flaminglips world and I hope it continues for another hundred years. Thanks guys, i love y’all very much and I’ll see ya down the road 💗(I’ll have to mine for more special memories pics but here’s a few I found with relative ease)
