The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) believes everybody should have the opportunity to dance, without judgement, regardless of who they are and where they come from. We are aware of the online abuse currently being directed to Sophie Rebecca on social media. We find this behaviour totally unacceptable. We want to clarify a series of incorrect facts that are being shared. The Royal Academy of Dance is one of the world’s leading dance education and training establishments, our ballet syllabus is taught in dance schools across the world. Sophie, like many other people, has taken a number of RAD examinations. Contrary to what is being said on social media, she is not and never has been a professional ballet dancer. She is however an advocate for the benefits of adults dancing. We are inspired by how important dance is to Sophie Rebecca’s life, and she has the full support of the RAD.
