Awareness practice today:
Go outside.
Look for new buds on the trees and bushes, and be amazed and delighted at how they woke up, again! Speak to them, say good morning. And just look! The sky, the clouds, the colors all around, all perfect.
Smell tree bark, and the new leaves, the sweetness of shoots.
Taste food that has come directly from the earth, and think far back in it’s story, a thought, a seed, the moist earth, the hand that planted it. How it journeyed to get to your plate. How it works inside your body to nourish your cells. How it tastes delightful, and makes your brain light up with joy, and promise that every day you’ll take at least a few bites in this beautiful relational way.
Listen, if you can, to some running water. Even if it’s just to notice it when you wash your hands or the dishes today. It doesn’t come from the tap, it comes from nature. Isn’t that amazing? Also listen for birdsongs, and just notice right where you are, how many sounds from nature can you hear?
Feel your feet on the Earth, and stand absolutely still on it. Just be still and anchored and grounded. Feel the incredible strength of your connection to this giant planet that holds you tight, that provides everything for you, that is your home, and that you are inextricably part of, and that is part of you.
