Thanks to @rupa_health for this! Food gives us a dopamine hit, which feels good temporarily. But it doesn’t address what we might really need. And there are other healthy ways to get this reward/feel good hormone flowing. There are other hormones and neurotransmitters that are triggered by other thoughts and actions. Once we learn to pause and ask ourselves what we are feeling and what we really need in the moment to handle that, the answer is most often not food. Or scrolling. Or shopping. Or other dopamine deliverers.
