This is one of the biggest triggers for eating when we aren’t hungry. We feel like we “shouldn’t” be tired, aren’t allowed to rest, so we reach for snacks (normally sugary ones) to give us a dopamine hit and energy to keep us going (surprise - it’s temporary- we’re still tired a few minutes later!)
When we learn to respect our body and mind’s natural rhythmic needs for rest, we find we have plenty of energy when we really need it. And we don’t use food for something it cannot really help with (hello- the whole crux of Emotional Eating!)
Intentional, purposeful, guilt free rest is essential to good health.
