I’m just sitting here breathing in the peace of one boy sleeping on the couch, one boy watching hockey vids to get pumped for the new season, the dogs lounging, in the newly tidied room with the window open letting in cool air that hints at my favorite season approaching. We have peaches.
We are safe. We know how privileged it is to be safe. To have peaches. How fragile.
It’s so important for those of us who are safe to fight right now for so many things that need to change in this country and in the world. We are rightfully enraged and that rage is what changes things.
But we also need to breathe and refresh ourselves so that we still have energy to fight another day.
So donate, sign petitions, send care packages, call your representatives, organize marches, and funnel that rage into action.
Then stop. Turn it off. Don’t let it wear you down to uselessness.
Eat a peach. Then give one to your neighbor.
