Do you get mad at yourself when you can’t do a move in the workout at the same level/reps/weight as the instructor? That’s because you’re the student and well, not the instructor! The goal is to increase your muscle’s capabilities to get to that level. There’s NOTHING WRONG with what those muscles can do now! Here are a couple pointers: 1. Log your start stats. For example “three reps x 3 with 3lb dumbells to muscle failure” That way you can track your progress- maybe in the next week or so, you can use 5lbs, or more reps, or more sets. 2. Talk to yourself differently. Instead of “I can’t do more than 3lbs” say “My MUSCLES can do 3lbs for now. As they get stronger, they will handle more.” YOU aren’t doing anything here but seeing what your muscles can do. 3. Be consistent, stick to the schedule. You will see your muscles improving in strength and ability if you keep going! Simple. The mental game is as important as the physical one. Maybe even more important. Be good to yourself. You’re DOING IT! Shirt at @zulily #keepgoing #progressnotperfection #competewithyourself #gentlewithyourself #nottheinstructor
