Right? Mindfulness practices help create that space between reacting to something (a feeling, a thought, a behavior, or something outside ourselves) so we can say “Nope! I’m doing this instead!” And having a plan for what to do when those come up is so important. You can’t just tell old stuff to go away without telling your brain what TO do! Write out alternatives and have them ready to look at or remember when you catch yourself in old patterns. And finally- Practice!
