“Grace Ueng ’87 and I met as freshman,” remembers Richard Chleboski ’87. “While we never dated in school, I once gave her a rose—from a dozen I was giving to my then girlfriend—when I saw her walking to class.
“Fast forward to our 30th reunion, I served on Reunion Committee, and invited Grace (and some other friends) to go to Tech Night at Pops. Grace agreed and everyone else said no, and for that I am forever thankful.
“Grace and I enjoyed dinner, attended Pops, and even had dessert afterwards. We agreed that I would pick Grace the next afternoon to attend MIT talks and our class dinner. The next day, we decided to walk around the Institute after our class dinner. We spent the walk reminiscing, then settled into the former 24-hour library, catching up on the past 30 years. At the end of that evening, I surprised her with 11 roses with a note saying, ‘Here are the other 11 roses I should have given you 30 years ago.’ We began dating immediately thereafter and have been together ever since.” 💕
