As MIT Sloan prepares to reopen campus this fall, we are encouraged by data that shows the effectiveness of wearing masks in deterring the spread of COVID-19. Recent research shows that wearing a mask decreases the risk of transmission by an infected person by 50-100% and decreases the wearer’s risk of infection by as much as 65%. Proper mask-wearing will be an essential new behavior on campus as we work together to keep each other safe. Everyone on campus will be required to wear a mask at all times, and the school will supply high-quality, reusable masks to those returning to Cambridge. Here are a few familiar faces from around MIT Sloan modeling our new masks. Post your mask selfie with the hashtag #MITSloanMasksUp, and tag @mitsloan and @sloanstudentlife for a chance to be featured both on Instagram and on the MIT Sloan website. Don’t forget to tell us why you mask up and who you mask up for. Check the @sloanstudentlife account for more mask selfies in the weeks ahead.
