I was way too busy this week—the kind of busy that exhausts without really accomplishing much—I have a lot going on and my plate keeps filling up. I wondered how I’ll ever “get it all done?” That kind of thinking is a big red flag for me. When this happens I stop, find a quiet place and concentrate on simple, needful things. The Savior wants us to remember during these difficult times to “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, mind and strength.” In fact, it is the first commandment, but it’s hard to remember when we get in such a hurried, stressful or even distressed state. Yesterday was the birthday of my Grandfather, Rulon George Osmond, who would have been 126 years old. This is a picture of his engagement to my sweet Grandmother, Laverna Van Noy Osmond. They lived in Anton, Wyoming. Osmond, Wyoming is nearby which his father, my great great grandpa founded. It’s comforting to be able look back at our family’s stories and find strength in how they dealt with their challenges by listening to the Lord for help. I’ve passed these stories on to my children so now when they go through their difficulties they can look to my grandmother’s example, and others like her, and comfort will come knowing they can, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10). It’s in the stillness that peace from our Savior will always come. If you haven’t I hope you do some investigating and find your family stories because I know every one has a great story to tell!
