power girl. what a strong phrase.
.
skating makes me feel so powerful & strong, but it can also make me feel so weak & insecure. I have my ups & downs. While sometimes it’s thrilling, other times is utterly terrifying.
.
so far in my career, I’ve had broken a lot of bones. When I was 9 years old, I chipped off a piece of bone during the final spin in my program run through. A couple years later, I cracked my tibia on a triple lutz on my mom’s birthday, & then last year, right before the season fully started, I discovered that this ongoing pain I’ve been dealing with turned out to be a stress fracture.
.
honestly when I found out, I was in shock & disbelief. I argued that the pain barely bothered me & even tried to negotiate my way to continue to skate. But in the end, I knew I had to follow the doctors’ orders. The whole recovery process was very challenging. I was constantly battling myself, physically & mentally. I was so tempted to do more than what doctors said my limit was. I felt the need to do more to make up for the lost time I spent away from on ice training. But also at the same time, I was scared I’d re-injure myself & have to restart this whole process again.
.
rebuilding is long process, but I won’t give up on it. Although my happy ending hasn’t quite come true yet, I trust that it’ll come! To me, that trust is a type of strength that I’ll always carry with me! xoxo ♥️
