February 22nd. My 4th and final procedure on my elbow. They will be going in to remove the screw that’s been holding the bone in place. With that said, I am now officially done with baseball. These past 5 years have been some of the most physically and mentally exhausting years I think I will ever encounter. When I look back on my childhood and my own playing career it’s hard to not be overcome by emotion. The amount of love and support that Kait and family have poured into me is the only reason why I am still smiling today. If I’m being completely transparent, for the longest time baseball was my identity. It’s all I’ve ever known. It’s what my dad did, it’s what I expected to do and it’s what others expected me to do. I put all my stock in that and I put enormous amounts of pressure on myself to pitch in the big leagues. But through all the surgeries and the ups and downs I found my identity in Christ and that has made the difference. I’m able to have true Joy without the game of baseball. I have my family, I have my beautiful wife Kaitlyn and now we have the biggest blessing on the way in Preslee Blake. Our world is about to get a whole lot sweeter and we look forward to what’s next for myself and our family.
Also, my last strikeout of my career was @treicruz9 and last out was @fordproctor. Both future big leaguers so I ended on a high note 😉
