In 2010 the United Nations declared April 23 as a day to annually celebrate the Spanish language. To celebrate, today’s #GoogleDoodle honors the letter Ñ — the only letter in the Spanish alphabet that originated in Spain. The Ñ was first used in the 12th century and today appears in over 17,700 Spanish words.
