I never write long posts, but this one’s special. Please read... Over Thanksgiving, my mom shared she recently had a few skin cancer spots fully removed. Welp, that prompted my first appointment to the dermatologist. January 7th, I went in to get my skin checked. There was one little round mole on my leg. I decided to get removed - purely because I didn’t like the way it looked or felt (it itched from time to time.) My doctor, agreed it looked like nothing, but decided it wouldn’t hurt to let the lab test it. On January 18, I received a call saying I tested positive for melanoma. The deadliest form of skin cancer... To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I shed a lot of tears & if you know me, they were the uncontrollable hiccup kind of tears! I am 25, healthy, & I never thought to question my skin, at least not any time soon.. ••• After a lot of scans and appointments I now have surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning to get it removed! I’m grateful it was caught early, so instead of complaining I’ll {encourage} you to go out and get your skin looked at. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, but it’s also the most common. It doesn’t discriminate so please don’t wait. Look for the ABCDEs of melanoma, even if it skips to E, like mine, pay attention to your body.. ••• I’ll keep you updated, but in the mean time, swipe for a not so pretty picture of my melanoma (pre-biopsy) >>>> .. ••• ✨ Prayers & positive vibes greatly appreciated ✨ ••• #melanoma #melanomaawareness #skincancer #cancer
