Archetype is 16 years old today. This was a fun record to make, no record labels telling us what to do, how to write and being all up in our business. I wrote all the songs with Raymond, I produced, recorded and engineered the entire demo, arranged and wrote vocal lines with Burt at my home studio, then we went into Rumbo studios in Reseda California, same studio GNR and Tom Petty recorded and lived in for several years and banged this album out recording all guitars and bass. When the album was recorded I wasn’t happy with the keyboards and electronics so I redid everything in 3 days with Steve Tushar and then flew to Vancouver to mix with Greg Reely. We needed an album cover so I was researching artists and came across Torsten in Germany and just knew it would fit. I originally wanted the pentagram on the cover but then we decided to redo the FF logo in the human bones because this album had more of a organic vibe. If you want to know why this album came out more raw,it’s because I was listening a lot to my favorite Slayer Record Undisputed Attitude, other albums on rotation at that time was Rammsteins Mutter and Mnemic’s first album. I loved that raw vibe of Slayers Undisputed and I felt we needed to bring back some that rawness after Digimortal sounding so sterile. I remember blabbermouth trolls at the time just hating and discrediting the fact I had switched to guitar. When the record came out they had to swallow songs like Slave Labor and Cyberwaste.
