Yesterday, a man, Jason Kendall, was arrested for “open murder” for killing a 30 year old escort here in Vegas. On July 15th, there will be a Lincoln County Commission meeting on whether the County will hold a vote on to re-legalize brothels after 50 years in Lincoln. ASN has submitted this case as evidence that Lincoln NEEDS to re-legalize because it creates an alternative market to Pahrump. We are unsure why the escort didn’t work in Pahrump, but having more legal options would deter women from engaging in illegal and risky situations. Lincoln is one hour north of Clark (Vegas). Nye County is one hour west of Clark. Pahrump is also a hard road to traverse to (it’s all up-road). So having a legal option north will vastly help people. While some may say decriminalization is the answer, we disagree because the women would be in the exact same situation with decriminalization, as there are no safeguards. Most illegal escorts work off of referrals, to know clients are safe to see, but there’s no other deterrent to prevent bad boys like Jason Kendall from killing.
