In doing our campaign canvassing, we have come across a number of people who have expressed confusion as to why they should vote for brothel legalization, when their county has no dispensary. Our rebuttal is: why does it matter? Why is that your reason for not supporting brothels? It’s like saying you’re against Tesla setting up an EV Charging Station because there’s no Amtrak station… It literally makes zero sense. But if that’s the hill those constituents want to defend, then here’s some tough facts: ▪️studies show cannabis contributes to DWIs. ▪️cannabis creates more of a nuisance than brothels do because the stench of cannabis spreads. ▪️cannabis creates addiction. On the other hand, brothels: ✔️take place inside of buildings, so they aren’t a nuisance. ✔️ brothels have a great safety track record. ✔️ brothels increase tourism in the counties they are in and boost the local economy. ASN supports cannabis and consenting adults, but if the reason for not supporting brothels has to do with no cannabis facility, then that’s ironic, considering that brothels have been around longer in Nevada than cannabis legalization has.
