felt like making everyone cry this time around. ‘out of love’ is officially the next song I want to shed some light on. I took the cover photo when I was in japan. I visited a bridge filled with hundreds of bells, placed there by couples who wished to stay together forever. I couldn’t help but wonder how many of those wishes actually came true. each bell represents a little world created and shared by two (or more, possibly) people. some still standing, some just remains of something that has since fallen away. I wondered how many people have forgotten about their bells, or how many still go back to find theirs. I found this bridge to be microcosmic of the human condition. we all so intensely want to love and be loved, and the process of finding that can be painful. it can require lots of trial and error, starting over, and everything else that makes the searching that much harder. But the idea of loving so deeply regardless of the outcome is what makes it all beautiful anyways. I wrote this song for a then-heartbroken friend of mine and I’m glad I did. We’ve all loved and lost. but there’s solace in the numbers and in the fact that we are capable of the most incredible feeling in the world, no matter how it turns out or how much it hurts us. with everything that falls apart, there is a new opportunity to start again. even if you have to hang up a thousand bells. let’s all cry together now ok peace out I hope you like this one 🖤
