K183 Update - 09/07/2020
On the 30th of June 2020, K183 was transferred within the Newport Workshops from East Block to 5 Road in West Block (Steamrail Depot).
K183 has been in storage in East Block since the Benalla level crossing collision of October 2002.
... Since arriving back in our care, It has undergone some removal of damaged parts and is currently being stripped for a full assessment of possible damage.
Once the assessment is complete, decisions can be made on the future of the locomotive.
We ask that people refrain from undue speculation out of respect of the circumstances surrounding the locomotive.
Announcements will be made when appropriate on results of the assessment.
