Further still, the Commandant also has the pleasure in advising the award of three Commandant’s Commendations to Lieutenant Commander (LTCDR) Elise Allen, Sub Lieutenant (SLT) James Edie and Pilot Officer (PLTOFF) Phil Tanner for their work and dedication over a number of years to the implementation of CadetNET and supporting systems.
LTCDR Allen was tasked with the complete rewrite and design of the public facing NZCF website, creating the proof of concept of Moodle for the HQ NZCF training team, and assisted with a rapid development programme of Moodle content so it could be introduced into service sooner than expected. During this time she continued in position of Cadet Unit Commander of TS Nimrod.
SLT Edie was tasked with taking the CadetNet concept designs and building the graphical user interfaces, these allow individual users to interface with CadetNet. This was a complex task, as the manner in which the screens operated differed depending on any number of factors such as age, position and rank. In addition SLT Edie has provided invaluable support, input and ideas to the team over a five year period. During this time he continued as a unit officer and then Cadet Unit Commander of TS Waireka.
PLTOFF Tanner has performed at a level well above most officers’ capability during a very lengthy and technically difficult IT project. He is committed, confident and worked well under pressure. His dedication in the development of CadetNET has certainly contributed to the success of the system. PLTOFF Tanner has displayed the ethos of the NZCF and highlighted the values, knowledge and skills the organisation has within its ranks.
This is a huge achievement and we congratulate them all on receiving their commendations. It is well deserved recognition for their work behind the scenes for the benefit of the organisation.
