On April 24, the world remembers victims of The Armenian Genocide. The massacre of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire began on this exact day in 1915 and started with the arrest of 200 Armenian intellectuals in Istanbul. It then turned into the extermination of 1,5 million innocent lives. 106 years later, we must never forget. The denial of genocidal fact is a continuation of the crime, and it must never, ever be accepted.
Today, in April of 2021 some 200 Armenian prisoners of w...ar are kept as hostages in Baku, Azerbaijan, in violation of international conventions, against the Minsk Group regulations and against PACE demands. This dehumanising and hateful act toxifies the future peace process in the region. Together, the pan-European party Volt Europa and the European Party of Armenia stand in solidarity and demand the immediate release of the Armenian prisoners and call upon all the parliaments of the EU to support efforts towards the restoration of international law, peace and human rights in the region of South-Eastern Europe.
@VoltEuropa and The European Party of Armenia make this common statement of grief and commemoration. We remember the pain of the Genocide, and we call on the world to prevent future tragedies. 106 years ago, Armenians were the victims. By recognising the past, we ensure that such tragedies do not happen again and that they do not happen to anyone.
