The said monument was historically erected at his birthplace in the old College Assurance Plan (CAP) Building located along Arch. Gabriel M. Reyes Street (named in his honor) in Poblacion Kalibo.
On May 7, 2015, Kalibo Sangguniang Bayan Resolution number 2015-256 sponsored by SB member Mark V. Quimpo was passed "allowing the installation of the statue of Archbishop Gabriel M. Reyes from College Assurance Plan (CAP) Property along Archbishop Gabriel M. Reyes Street to an appropriate place at the Pastrana Park" due to the impending sale of the said property.
On October 6, 2016, another resolution sponsored by SB Members Phillip Y. Kimpo and Mark V. Quimpo was approved "supporting the blessing, dedication, and turn-over of the statue of Archbishop Gabriel M. Reyes to the Municipality of Kalibo at the Pastrana Park on 10 October 2016, highlighting its value as a tourism and heritage landmark of Aklan."
Before the end of 2015, the relocation to Kalibo Pastrana Park was executed although official handover rites took place on October 10, 2016 to coincide with the 64th death anniversary of Arch. Gabriel M. Reyes and 39th foundation anniversary of Archbishop Gabriel M. Reyes Memorial Foundation, Inc.
