MALABON CITY – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) officially extended rail services to Malabon City with the opening of the PNR Governor Pascual Station today, 03 December 2018.
With the new station, there will be four trips daily from Tutuban in Manila to Governor Pascual in Malabon, and vice versa; and eight trips from Governor Pascual to FTI Station in Taguig, and vice versa daily.
A part of the Metro North Commuter (MNC) service, the route extension derives from the PNR management strategy to revive and add more railway lines for better connectivity.
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade led the blessing of the Governor Pascual platform and the Sangandaan – Governor Pascual Segment, along with DOTr Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan, PNR General Manager Junn Magno, PNR Board Chairman Roberto Lastimoso, National Youth Commission Chairperson Ronald Gian Carlo Cardema, Malabon City Rep. Ricky Sandoval, and Malabon City Vice Mayor Jeannie Sandoval.
The transportation chief, however, clarified that today’s opening of the extended route is considered a dry run, as more improvements will follow to accommodate the expected increase of passengers in Malabon.
Train fare from Governor Pascual to FTI station is at PhP25 for air-conditioned coaches, and PhP20 for non-air conditioned units. The route duration spans 58 minutes.
“Buksan natin, subukan natin.
