Our soon to be released album 'Virtual Islands' will be the last Gypsy & The Cat record. We have come to a place with the band where we feel like we have achieved the things it set out to, and are incredibly proud of the catalogue of music that we've built along the way.
We are really proud of this album, it took four years, so with the singles from it already getting two #2's and one #1 on Hype Machine and over a million plays on Spotify, we feel like it is even c...learer to us that we should move on, on a high and both focus on other projects we have been working on. Lionel is going to be moving into the world of film scoring and I have a solo project under an alias with music coming soon.
We are like brothers, Lionel and I, and this is in no way a sad or bitter thing, we speak every day in fact, instead it's more of a decision to keep growing as individuals and explore our artistic limits in different incarnations.
We are very grateful for your support and sharing the journey with us. From supporting The Strokes and our first shows in London, to Splendour and Big Day Out, Summersonic in Japan, touring Europe and the US, having a gold record, getting booked on Coachella, having a record in the Triple J's Hottest 100 Australian Albums of all time, 3 songs in the Hottest 100, getting some Aria nominations, 2 top tens in Germany, all of this wouldn't have been possible without you, our dedicated fans - so thank you sincerely.
We will obviously be touring and playing shows to support this album, so
grab a copy when it's out and come along and have a dance at a show!
Keep an ear out for our next moves.
Yours truly,
Xavier & Lionel
Over and out.
