As you'll have seen in our recent posts we seem to have had nothing but bad news recently, but today we are DELIGHTED to finally have some good news for the long-term development of the DCDR site in Downpatrick.

We have been offered by Belfast Harbour Commissioners and McCormack Demolition a heritage building from Great Patrick Street in Belfast, specifically the roof trusses and the cut stonework from it.

Whilst not a railway building, these sheds were prototypical of the so...rts of buildings used by the railway companies. We hope at some point to use these, subject to funding, to recreate a "Goods Shed" visitor centre to tell the story of our goods wagons and create a new visitor experience - or as part of our proposed overall canopy for the station - we haven't decided as yet.
